School Days - in Spanish

Though our kids speak enough Spanish to get around just fine here, we all have a desire that they be more fluent in Spanish, so that they feel more "at home" here. (Our daughter often reminds us: "After all, we kids have spent way more time in Peru than in the USA during our lives!") Therefore, we decided to enroll the kids for a 3 month stint to finish out the Peruvian school year - full immersion Spanish lessons. (The Peruvian schools are in session March-December - winter down here on this side of the equator). We have done this 2 other times during our missionary service, with positive results both times - and the kids are loving it again!

They are attending "Colegio Cristiano Elliot" 3 days a week; the other 2 days will be used to keep up with math and English grammar lessons at home. The school is part of the Brethren Church, which was founded in Trujillo by Bert and Colleen Elliot, missionaries in Peru for 58 years. The school is named for his brother, Jim, a missionary who was killed by the Auca Indians in Ecuador, as he and 4 other missionaries were attempting to take the gospel to them.
