We are so excited to have Eric and Lora Karraker from Tulsa, OK, here with us as Associate Missionaries! They will work with us as Communications Director (Eric) and Cinic Assistant/Translator (Lora) for the next year or two. They bring lots of gifts and energy to the team - as well as hidden karaoke abilities!

Baker Despedida

The Baker family returned to the States on Monday to embark on their year-long "Home Ministry Assignment". To commemorate their 8 years (and counting) of ministry in Peru, we put together this slide show of memories...

Surprise Night

Friday Night was "Surprise Night" in the Peru Mission community - an eclectic evening full of varied entertainment and celebrations. It was planned as a farewell party (the Bakers are returning to the USA for a year-long furlough, Clara Lee and Grace Bateman are finishing up their work with us), but became a birthday party as well (Allen celebrated a significant birthday that day - note all the black in the photo). Several people presented talents and tributes to the honored guests in poetry, song and works of art, while a couple of the honored guests treated everyone to a "going out with a bang baton twirling extravaganza"! And the rest of the evening was laughed away singing karaoke - in Spanish and English!

Death of a Camera

This is the final picture taken by our trusty Canon camera before it fell to an untimely death. If you possess decent deductive skills, you can figure out who was the instigator of said death. We are very sad since we take soo many pictures - not only for our family, but also for the Mission. So, the blog will be pictureless until we can get a new camera brought down from the States whenever we get a chance...

Mother's Day in Arevalo

Mother's Day is really a huge deal here in Peru. The Youth in Arevalo Presbyterian Church put on a delightful Mother's Day program for the ladies in the commmunity. There were songs, poems, skits, a sermon, and food. The ladies enjoyed it immensely and left feeling quite appreciated and encouraged.

Of course, this was our favorite performance of the evening: William, Abby Baker and Mollie playing "Ode to Joy" on their violins.

Spanish Hour

The kids have a new Spanish teacher, our friend Carlos, who comes for an hour each day. This time of formal grammar training has really helped them, as we have seen a few bad habits we developed by picking up Spanish on the streets.

3 Churches, 3 Pastors

The Iglesia Evangelica Presiteriana del Peru doesn't have nearly enough pastors for its churches. Most congregations have no full-time pastor. However, the Lord has greatly blessed the three Presbyterian churches in Trujillo. With the installation of Jaime Avallaneda as pastor of Larco Presbyterian Church on Sunday, all three congregations have a full-time pastor. Please pray for these three men of God:
Eduardo Quiroz is pastor of a church plant, Arevalo Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Noemi, have 3 sons.


Jaime Avallaneda is pastor of Larco Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Rosa, have 4 children.


Juan Marquina is pastor of Wichanzao Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Miriam, are newlyweds.

Welcoming 2 New Families

We are happy to announce the arrival of 2 new families joining Peru Mission! After raising support and studying in language school, they have arrived in Trujillo to minister to the brethren in Peru alongside all of us. We want you to meet them, in alphabetical order:

Chris and Marti Bolton are from Knoxville, TN. Chris received his MBA from the University of Tennessee, and later worked with several companies - helping them to grow profitably and to financially assist local ministries. Chris and Marti also participated in a number of church plants. Chris worked closely with Brad Ball in designing the woodshop economic development plan and will help oversee the implementation in Trujillo. They have three children: Luke, Annie, and Ben.


Josh and Robin Eby are originally from CA, but come to us from Knoxville, TN, where Josh served for the past four years as part of a church planting team. Josh received his MDiv from RTS Orlando. Josh's role with Peru Mission will include working with churches, ministers and pastoral candidates, teaching in the seminary, and overseeing American Interns. The Ebys have four children: Jonathon, Jacob, Caleb, and Caroline.

Please keep these families in your prayers as they adjust to the many changes of moving, especially settling into a new country.
