In 2000, an effervescent group from 1st Presbyterian Church, Corinth, MS, came to work alongside us in Cajamarca. While they were there, they caught a vision - to help Samuel, the handicapped son of one of our rural pastors, expand his opportunities by coming to study in the USA. The church worked hard, raising funds and offering unlimited hospitality; and Samuel worked hard, learning English (more quickly than anyone we've seen!) and studying hard all through university. And the Lord blessed them all in the process. Now he is a graduate of Miss. State University Architecture School and working as an intern at an architecture firm. He will be travelling to Peru next week to visit his family - for the first time in 7 years! We had a small gathering yesterday with folks who had gone to Peru and supported Samuel to enjoy one another and to pray for him as he returns. Godspeed, Samuel!
