Busy Sunday

Sundays around here are usually quite full - and yesterday was no exception! We attended Larco Presbyterian Church in the morning, where Bill preached a baptism sermon for precious, little Kiara Elizabeth. Kiara's parents, Edwin and Maritza, were married a couple of years ago - and we served as their godparents.



After the service, the numerous children who attended Vacation Bible School all week performed a brief show for the congregation. Then, the kids scattered to their different classes, while adult Sunday school was taught by John Ferguson, who has just started an edifying, Christ-centered series on the 10 Commandments.

After all the church activities, we headed to the Bakers' house for our traditional Sunday lunch, where the whole team enjoys food and fellowship together. Jami served up a delicious batch of Chicken Pasta Salad and Tomatoes Oregano (for 40!), which was followed by desert brought by a couple of the interns, chocolate cake and chocolate rats. Then we gathered in the living room for a refreshing time of singing (with the regular debates over which version of a hymn to sing - the traditional version or the RUF tune)and corporate praise and prayer for each another's concerns.

In the evening, we attended Arevalo Presbyterian Church, While we were there, we rejoiced in the advances on the medical clinic construction and were blessed by the preaching of pastoral intern, Percy Padilla. Percy had to preach with a flashlight because the electricity was out for the day - a regular, random occurence around here.

Then, we rushed home in order to have time to read a chapter in one our new favorite books, The Secret of the Swamp King (the second in a delightfully entertaining, allegorical trilogy - The Wilderking Trilogy). We highly recommend that you read the books too!
