Jungle Adventure

Our family was just blessed with the opportunity to marvel at God's creation in the Amazon Rain Forest - what a magnificent place! Unfortunately, we lost 2 days of pictures (which included the pix we took on the suspension bridge 190 feet up in the trees of the rainforest) - but we still got tons of great photos, as you can see below (and even more great memories!):

For a first hand eye-witness report, you can read the follwing email sent out by our daughter:

Hey y’all! We just got back from the Jungle last night at about 10. IT WAS SOOOOOOO COOL!!!!

We touched the Amazon as our boat sped down the Amazon river, went piranha fishing, (but the fish weren't biting), saw dolphins (pink and gray), were the 2nd kids on the Canopy Walkway (a suspension bridge 190 feet up in the trees), met and danced with Indians (one of the Indian girl's name was Mollie!), blew Indian blow dart guns, held 2 sloths, made friends with some Germans, (who we had to speak Spanish to), made friends with some New Yorkers, slid down the jungle slide into the pool, saw a tapir, hiked in the rainforest, had an anaconda snake wrapped around our necks, saw beautiful butterflies and birds, and held a duckling. Last, and most definitely not least,

(drum roll, please.............)

WE HUGGED MONKEYS!!!!

Better yet we held monkeys, fed monkeys, played with monkeys!!!!!! The people who live on the island buy and find monkeys people are killing off to take to the island to take care of until they become adults. Then they release them back into the Jungle. But if the adults aren't healthy enough they have to stay there. There are 8 types of monkeys on the island. The Howler Monkey, The Spider Monkey, The Titi Monkey, The Tamarin Monkey, The Saki Monkey, The Wooly Monkey (who "isn't accustomed to people"), The Marmoset Monkey and The Red Ukari Monkey!!!!!! One of the Howlers, named Rutha, is the most lovable, one of the Spider Monkeys, (William's favorito) named Luis, (he is huge but still a baby) is the most playful, one of the Titi Monkeys, named Antony (be sure to say it the Peruvian way) is really small, I got to put him on around my shoulders, one of the Marmosets, named David, is really playful too but not as playful as Luis. We got to go there 2 times because all the pictures, except the first day pictures, erased. :( But thankfully we could do everything over again, except the Canopy Walkway.

WE HAD SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!!! I wish y'all could have been there!
